Tre Marie Soft Cranberry Almond Cookies come from a Milanese name Italians have known for generations, baked today in Cosio Valtellino in Lombardy. The Italian label calls them frolle morbide, a tender shortcrust rather than a crisp biscotto, and the line name i Morbidi simply means the soft ones. Dried cranberries, almond pieces and cocoa nibs are worked right through the dough, so tart fruit plays against toasted nut and the crumb stays soft all the way to the last bite. They are less sweet than they look. Have them with coffee in the morning or tea in the afternoon, and they are lovely crumbled over yogurt with a spoonful of jam.
