Description

Tre Marie Krumiro Cookies Filled with Chocolate are ridged butter biscuits with a seam of bittersweet chocolate running right through the middle. Krumiro is the Italian name for this fluted shortbread shape, and the dough blends wheat flour with whole wheat for a sandier, slightly nutty crumb you notice straight away. They taste buttery and lightly toasted rather than sugary, which is the whole point: Italians eat these for breakfast, dunked in coffee, not as a dessert. Dip one into an espresso or a cappuccino and count to three, and you will see why they are built a little dry. Baked in Italy. Good with morning coffee, with tea, or with a spoonful of jam on the side.
