Tre Marie Gianduja Hazelnut Cream Wafers are crisp wafer sheets layered with a dark cocoa and hazelnut cream. Gianduja is the Piedmontese word for chocolate blended with ground hazelnuts, the combination Turin gave the world, and it is why this filling tastes far richer and nuttier than an ordinary cocoa wafer. The snap is dry and clean rather than crumbly, so they break properly instead of shattering everywhere. They are made at Cosio Valtellino, up in Lombardy and shipped from Italy, and the front reads Antica Marca, Italian for old established brand. Have one with an espresso in the afternoon, which is exactly what they are for. Keep them somewhere dry so they stay crisp.
