Strega Italian Torrone, Soft is the chewy kind of Italian nougat, the one you can actually bite without worrying about your teeth. It is built the traditional way on egg white, honey and sugar with nuts worked through, and it comes from Benevento in Campania, one of Italy's historic torrone towns, where Strega Alberti has worked since 1860. Soft torrone is what most Italian families put on the table at Christmas, cut into slabs and passed around with coffee and a glass of something sweet. If the hard kind has put you off torrone before, start here instead; it is a completely different experience and far easier to eat.
