Description

Strega Italian Chocolate Covered Torrone, Hard is the brittle style of Italian nougat, the kind that snaps, wrapped in chocolate so you get a smooth bite before you reach the crunch. It is made in Benevento, a Campanian town with a long torrone tradition and home of the Strega liqueur since 1860. Hard torrone is meant to be broken into pieces and shared rather than eaten like a candy bar. Serve it at the end of a meal with espresso or a dessert wine. Keep it somewhere cool and dry; warmth softens the nougat and takes away the snap that makes it worth eating in the first place.
