Description

San Carlo Classic Taralli Savory Snack Rings are a southern Italian specialty, small hand-shaped rings that are traditionally boiled before they are baked, which is why they dry hard and snap rather than crumble. The dough is short and simple: wheat flour, white wine, olive oil, extra virgin olive oil and salt, giving a brittle bite and a faint winey tang that plain crackers cannot match. They are vegetarian. In Puglia these sit on the table all evening next to the olives and the wine, and they are meant to be eaten slowly and continuously. Serve with salumi, soft cheese, marinated olives and a crisp white, and put out more than you think you need.
