Polara Sicilian Blood Orange Soda, 9.3 fl x 4 pours a deep garnet red and tastes like actual fruit, which is rare in this category: 22 percent juice from Sicilian blood oranges, with a tart, faintly bitter finish that ordinary orange sodas never get near. Blood oranges grow on the slopes around Etna and taste of raspberry as much as orange. Bottled in Modica, a baroque town in the Ragusa province of southeastern Sicily. Antica Ricetta Siciliana on the carton simply means old Sicilian recipe. Alcohol free, four bottles to a pack. Serve it very cold, on its own or poured over ice with a splash of prosecco for an easy aperitivo.
