Matilde Vicenzi Preferiti assorted cookies are one of the best-selling Vicenzi pastries that include flavors such as delicate hazelnuts, spicy cinnamon, citrus fruits, tart-sweet cherries, and soft cocoa cream. There are 12 different cookie varieties with each providing a distinctly different experience enhanced by unique designs and fillings.

Shortbread cookies' origins trace back to 12th century Scotland when butter was added to bread dough, thus it was named shortbread. After the introduction of sugar in the UK in the 17th century, shortbread cookies soon became synonymous with sweet flavors that we all know today. One of the biggest consumers of cookies is Italy, a country known for its "cookies for breakfast" culture. Throughout the centuries, they have created some of the most unique biscuit varieties including Baci di Dama (or “lady’s kisses”), Biscotti (or “twice-baked”, also known as Cantuccini), and Amaretti (“amaro”, meaning bitter in reference to almonds they contain). To discover more of Italy’s favorite cookies, check out our wide selection of Italian cookies!

Matilde Vicenzi is an artisanal family-owned bakery brand that started off as a small pastry shop, also known as pasticcerie, in 1905 in San Giovanni Lupatoto, Verona, Italy. The founder of Matilde Vicenzi, Matilde Vicenzi herself always loved creating pastries at home, and with the support from friends and family, she began her own pastry shop, which quickly became popular throughout the region. With over 115 years of experience, the Vicenzi brand still follows the philosophy of simplicity and quality by using fresh eggs and high-quality Italian wheat. Many Italian artisanal brands and Italy’s favorite products can be found in our online Italian grocery store!
