Ladyfingers, also known as Boudoir or Savoy biscuits, are oval-shaped cookies generally considered a French invention originating in the 15th century at the court of the Duchy of Savoy. At the time, they were often gifted to visitors in France and were named “ladyfingers” because of the resemblance to the thin and delicate fingers of a lady. Although they are considered a French pastry, many also consider them to be an Italian biscuit known as Savoiardi.
