Emil Reimann Dresdner Stollen in Gift Box, IGP comes from a Dresden bakery working in the city's protected stollen tradition, and the gold seal on the lid carries a control number that only Dresden bakers are allowed to use. Look for it; it is the difference between the genuine article and an imitation. The crumb is dense with sultanas, candied orange and lemon peel, almonds and rum, finished with butterfat and a thick snow of powdered sugar. Stollen is baked to keep, and the flavor settles and deepens as the loaf rests, so buy it early in the season. Slice it thin, serve with coffee, and store it wrapped somewhere cool.
