Description

Coppenrath Spekulatius Cinnamon Cream Sandwich Cookies are two thin windmill-stamped biscuits with a cinnamon cream filling between them, and the filling is a full thirty percent of each cookie, so this is no thin smear. The bakery is in Geeste in northern Germany, and its label dates the firm to 1825. Cinnamon, clove and Bourbon vanilla come through clearly against the buttery shortbread snap. Spekulatius is the German name for the spiced windmill biscuit, and here you get it twice over with cream in the middle. The gold and red carton looks like a gift already. Serve them with coffee or mulled wine, and expect the box to empty faster than you planned.
