Coppenrath Speculoos Hazelnut Cream Sandwich Cookies are two thin, windmill-stamped spice biscuits with a hazelnut cream filling that makes up thirty percent of each cookie. They are baked in Geeste, in northwest Germany, and they take the familiar cinnamon-and-spice speculoos flavor somewhere richer. Hazelnut and warm spice is a combination Europeans grow up on, and once you have had it in a speculoos biscuit the plain version feels a little bare. Spekulatius is German for speculoos. The winter carton, printed with snow scenes, stars and a reindeer, is ready to give as it is. Serve with coffee, hot chocolate, or a glass of mulled wine.
