Description

Niederegger Walnut Rum Croquant Marzipan Bar layers soft, almond-rich marzipan with crushed caramelized walnut brittle, then wraps the whole thing in milk chocolate. The rum reads warm rather than sharp, and the brittle adds a bit of snap against the dense almond paste. Marzipan has been made in Lubeck, on Germany's Baltic coast, for generations, and this is the grown-up version: less candy, more confection. Break off a square with black coffee after dinner, or slice it thin and serve alongside cheese and dried fruit.
