Each of these Venchi milk chocolates is filled with three whole Piedmont Hazelnuts, an internationally prized variety protected by the IGP (Indication of Geographic Protection) denomination granted by the EU! Crunchy hazelnuts are coated with gluten-free Gianduja milk chocolate.
Gianduja is a traditional Italian confection made with at least 30% hazelnut paste. The first-ever Gianduja was created in Turin in the first half of the 19th century to overcome the cocoa deficit due to the Continental System blockade. Michele Prochet, a chocolatier from Turin, decided to experiment and substituted some of the chocolate with luscious hazelnut paste - that’s how Gianduja was born!
