Nama yatsuhashi matcha rice cakes with red bean paste filling by Hakushindo is an authentic Japanese confection with the perfect combination of sweet and grassy flavors. Renowned for their beautiful green appearance and mochi-like soft texture, these tender and chewy treats are folded into a triangle and filled with sweet red bean paste called anko (made with azuki beans).

There has been a particular fondness for rice cultivation in Japan since ancient times, resulting in a myriad of rice confections widely spread and frequently consumed nationally and internationally. Yatsuhashi is one of the most well-known souvenir snacks from Kyoto and based on several studies, over 40% of the tourists visiting Kyoto take yatsuhashi back with them. Two types of yatsuhashi are common: yatsuhashi (baked) and nama yatsuhashi (unbaked). You can discover the world’s best rice cakes & mochi in our expertly curated collection at Yummy Bazaar.
