Fondue, deriving from the French "fondre," meaning "to melt," is the art of dipping bread, fruits, and everything in between into warm melted chocolate or cheese. Although fondue is Swiss, it's made explicitly in the western part of Switzerland, where French is widely spoken. Initially, the first fondue was made with cheese in 1699. The chocolate fondue was invented by a Swiss restaurateur, Konrad Egli in the mid 1960s. A wide assortment of French chocolatey delights can be found in our collection of the most beloved chocolate delights from France!
Anysetiers du Roy is a French brand that prepares authentic blends of aromatic herbs, spices, and chocolate fondues. The brand started as a restaurant in Paris' Ile Saint-Louis, near Notre Dame, where it became prevalent in the 1960s. At the end of each dinner, customers received a gift pot of the special herbes de Provence blend brought to them in crocks and prepared by Louis Lombard, who was the first to combine aromatic herbs with lavender flowers. The success of the little crock jars inspired the founder's son to produce clay and stoneware pots in a small village near Valence. To this day, Lombards create their unique blends of aromatic spices and herbs. You can find a wide assortment of other authentic French brands' products in our online French grocery store!
