Freddi’s story begins in 1949 in Castiglione Stiviere, a small town in the Lombardy region. Luigi Freddi opened his bakery in the old town, initially concentrating on commercial sales. Luigi personally delivered freshly baked cakes to hotels, shops, and even other pastry-makers. In just a decade, the demand for his high-quality pastries grew so much that the bakery transformed into an industrial plant. In 1969, a newer, bigger Freddi plant was opened and equipped with one of Italy’s first automatic snack packaging lines. In 1979, Freddi moved into the international market, with France, Germany, Spain, and the Middle East becoming the first countries outside Italy to enjoy gourmet cakes.
