The origins of Cheddar trace back to the 12th century in England. The legend has it that inhabitants in the village of Cheddar in England used to preserve their milk in the existing caves. One of the milkmaids allegedly forgot about a milk pail in the cave. Upon her return, she found this golden yellow goodness we call Cheddar cheese.
