Anardana Pomegranate powder is powder made from ground pomegranate seeds. Pomegranate powder is used much in the same way sumac is used - to offer a bit of sour bitterness to any of your dishes.

To make Paneer with pomegranate powder (serves 4)

  1. Slice 500g of paneer into small cubes.
  2. Make a thick paste with 3/4 cup gram flour, 1/2 tsp turmeric powder, 1 tsp of grated ginger, 1 tsp grated garlic, and 1 tsp of ajwain (thyme) seeds, Tandoori and garam masala. If necessary, sprinkle 2-3 tbsp water while making paste.Mix well by adding 1/2 tbs oil.
  3. Marinate onions and paneer cubes in the paste for 10 minutes. Fry paneer pieces until brown. Keep aside the remaining marinade paste. Heat oil and saute onions until light brown.
  4. Add marinade paste kept aside and stir well.
  5. When dry, add fried paneer, chili powder, Badshah anardana powder, sugar and salt and mix well.
  6. Garnish with coriander and serve hot.
