Gianduja was invented in Turin Italy during Napoleon regency when the Mediterranean was under a blockade by the British. A chocolatier, Michele Prochet, extended the little chocolate he had by mixing it with hazelnuts from the Langhe hills south of Turin. This particular gianduja chocolate by Sperlari, a company started in 1836, is one of the very best in Italy.
- Ingredients: Semisweet chocolate (chocolate, sugar, cocoa butter, anhydrous milk fat, soy lecithin, natural flavor), roasted filberts/hazelnuts. Contains: milk, soybeans, filbert/hazelnut.
